Luther Midelfort extends vaccination clinic for seasonal and H1N1 flu
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– The state of Wisconsin is planning to expand availability of H1N1 vaccine to include all people 6 months and older. Seasonal influenza vaccine has the same availability.
Luther Midelfort’s public vaccination clinic for both seasonal and H1N1 influenza will be extended, pending vaccine availability. No appointments are necessary; walk-ins are welcome at:
Luther Midelfort – Clairemont Campus, 733 W. Clairemont Ave.
• Monday through Thursday, Dec. 14 to 17, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Friday, Dec. 18, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 21 to 23, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All people 6 months and older are now encouraged to get their H1N1 vaccination.
The highest priority for H1N1 vaccine remains the previous target groups most at risk for complications:
• Pregnant women
• Families and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months (Parents, siblings, daycare providers)
• Persons ages 6 months through 24 years old
• Persons age 25 through 64 years old with chronic medical conditions (Asthma, diabetes, heart disease, etc.)
Note: Children younger than 10 years old will need two H1N1 flu vaccines. The second would be given at least four weeks from the date of the first one. The same is true for seasonal flu vaccine if it’s the child’s first seasonal flu vaccination.
Patients also can receive seasonal or H1N1 vaccine through their primary healthcare providers.
