EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– As couples, we are given little guidance about how to maintain an intimate partnered relationship. We learn from watching our parents and other couples. However, not all couples want their relationships to be like their parents’.
A couples group called Living Happily Ever After is being offered by Luther Midelfort’s Behavioral Health Services. The group will focus on:
• Reviving and strengthening your friendship, the foundation for romance, sex and passion.
• Learning to enjoy everyday moments by turning toward one another and accepting things that cannot change.
• Handling conflict by using repair and recovery tools and win-win compromise.
• Developing rituals of connection to create shared meaning and honor one another’s lifelong dreams.
Maintaining a couple’s privacy is a priority. Couples will work individually and privately on information that is presented to the full group by the facilitators. Therapists Don Willson-Broyles and Wendy Sheasby will facilitate the group.
The group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
All group meetings will be in the Education Center, Luther Midelfort, 1221 Whipple St. Free parking is available in the ramp. From the hospital’s main entrance, take elevator A to the lower level. Follow posted signs to the Education Center.
