EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– Amber Gerber, a clinical psychologist, has joined Luther Midelfort’s Neurology Department.
A clinical psychologist works with children, adults and families to complete comprehensive evaluations, develop diagnoses and provide treatment for people with psychiatric difficulties. Neuropsychology is a specialty focused on the study of brain disorders affecting behavior, including epilepsy, memory loss or speech impairment. Individuals of all ages may experience neurological conditions, including stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injury or mental illness. Neuropsychological testing links the patient’s condition to his or her ability to perform everyday functions.
Gerber earned her doctor of psychology degree at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, Argosy University, Minneapolis, where she also received her master’s degree in clinical psychology. Gerber earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Luther Midelfort team and look forward to providing psychological services to the wide range of patients referred to our department,” Gerber said.
Before joining Luther Midelfort, Gerber was a psychologist at Sioux Trails Mental Health Center in St. Peter, Minn., and completed her internship at Hazelden, a residential chemical dependency treatment facility in Center City, Minn. She also continues to work as a psychologist at UW-Stout.
Gerber has special interests in assessment, brain injury, dementia, learning disorders, bariatrics and chemical dependency. For an appointment with Gerber, call Luther Midelfort’s Neurology Department at 715-838-1900.
